The Social Charitable Center “Women and Modern World” by the support of  “F I L I A die Frauenstiftung”   within the  framework  of the project “BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF WOMEN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE  CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND PEACE PROCESS.”

 carries out a training course on peacemaking process and the improvement of the women’s role in peacemaking  process at national level. Women at peace negotiations and decision-making of remains  constant in the background subject to multiple discrimination.

Our goal is to increase the participation of women and girls in peace negotiations and peace process; to emphasize women’s role in peace negotiations in conflict zones The main task of the project is to highlight the role of women of the conflict in the South Caucus in Azerbaijan as well as to hold a training program with the help of attracting the women to peacemaking process. As a rule the women constitute partially in the work of the transformation of the conflict, in peacemaking politics women are given less place than men and the main thing is that in the strategy of the peacemaking general balance must have a special place.

 That is, the absence of women at the negotiating table – this is not only unfair, but also inefficient. The uniqueness of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is that the so-called “frozen conflict”, i.e. a decision on a cease-fire was made 22 years ago, a peace treaty has not yet been signed.

The conflict has been a defining feature of the South Caucasus over the past 30 years. Armenian – Azerbaijan and   Nagorno – Karabakh and  South  Ossetia  and Abkhazia  in Georgia armed conflicts have shocked the South Caucasus since late 1980’    Today our region is suffering from the consequences of protracted conflicts, political instability, and difficulties in transformation of security sector as well as economic and migratory problems. This particular project aims to promote involvement of women in the process of prevention, mediation and conflict resolution. For this we need to increase the skills and knowledge of individual women participants as well as increasing the capacity and cooperation of the women organizations.  We will do this by conducting special trainings for women on regulation of conflicts and building peace. Women usually lack of knowledge about women’s rights – gender, democracy and peace.

An urgency and necessity for realization of projects on maintenance of the world in Azerbaijan, equally as in all regions of Caucasus are caused by a developed geopolitical situation, transitional conditions, and economic forces.

 The resolution, which was accepted by the Safety Soviet of UN in October 31st, 2000, was recommended by the government of UN members in the process of the preventing of the conflict, in the solving of the conflict, in the management of the conflict of national, regional, international level to attracting the participation of the women at the level of acceptance of the decision. The training course, which we will realize, will create the prerequisites for that activity.

 That’s to help the preventing of the conflict, to assist solving of the conflict in the South Caucus and to hold a  training program with the help of attracting the women to the peacemaking process.

Our main strivings:

          To raise the theoretical knowledge and practical habits about the making peace and preventing  the conflict, which the participants of a training course have.

          To work out a new ability about  making peace.

          To realize peacemaking actions in the frame of their local community

          To prevent the aggravation of violent conflicts, human sufferings, wide military operations and afterward formations.

  To invest to closer collaboration with foreign partners in the business of  firming the world stability.

Beneficiary – women, leaders,  life living in the regions of Azerbaijan Republic who are active in social-political  sphere  the results of the present project can use for the its future activities.

 The selection of women for the participation in the present training program is carried out on the competitive base. For the determination of their social political activation, the level of the interest in the participation and in that sphere we  used special Applying and Questioning.

In the frame of the present project women leaders was carried out trained in the following towns of 5 regions of Azerbaijan: Shamakhi (1); Agsu (2); Ismayilli (3); Xizi (4); Qobustan (5) and Baku.

At each training participated  is  to be 25 participants in  and last  events  (totally 6 trainings) finish in Baku.
